Getting to know John Walsh

It wouldn't be long before the public knew John Walsh by both voice and face.

"I figured out how to catch fugitives without a gun."

John Walsh began his television career seven years after his son's murder. In this time he became well known because of the murder of his son and his political acts for children's rights.

It didn't take much for FOX to select John Walsh to host America's Most Wanted which premiered in 1988. His has been the show's host since that time. Since the show's inception John Walsh has been involved in the capture of over 1000 wanted fugitives and criminals. No other show or host can claim such a feat. I'm sure John Walsh is proud.

John Walsh appeared on other shows, throughout the years, dedicated to his cause. He was the host of The John Walsh Show, Totally For Kids, and an episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark.

After more than 25 years in the spotlight many people have connected with John Walsh. He has become a household name, voice even! We can say the world is a better place because of this man.

John Walsh - A Beginning

It is in this author's opinion that the disappearance of John Walsh's son started his career. I think many others would agree with me on this decision.

Little did he know that the disappearance of his son would change his entire life. John Walsh, his wife and their 6-year old son lived in Florida. During a trip to Sears John Walsh's wife dropped Adam, their child, off in the toy department. Upon her return to pick him up Adam was missing. Sixteen days after, Adam's severed head was found in a drainage canal. John Walsh and his wife were horrified.

After the disappearance of his son, John Walsh and family started a non-profit organization whose goal was to change the law's view on criminal acts involving children and children rights.

Including the creation of the above organization John Walsh and his wife started lobbying for other things. They are responsible for the creation of the Missing Children Act of 1982 and the Missing Children's Assistance Act of 1984.

It was important to John Walsh that the government be allowed to get involved in cases of missing children and establish a toll-free telephone line in for people to call about missing children cases.

This was only the beginning for John Walsh...

John Walsh 'Needed to know'

John Walsh, the host of the famous TV show America's Most Wanted, finally found out what he needed to know for 19 years. Florida police have finally named the suspect who decapitated his child.

Florida police named Ottis Toole as the murderer of John Walsh's child. They weren't specific on the details but were sure it was him. It seems they discussed with eye-witnesses and looked over old case files to find out the truth.

Toole confessed to the murder a while ago but police couldn't believe him because he was known for confessing to crimes he did not commit. Toole's niece told the boy's father, John Walsh, her uncle confessed on his deathbed in prison that he killed Adam, his son.

John Walsh and his family finally know.

-I'm going to continue this blog with post about John Walsh and his amazing career and the event's that launched it.
